In response to the church mission statement: “We Love God, Love Neighbor, and Serve those in Need,” we are assembling Personal Care Kits which will be sent to people in need.
On September 16th, volunteers will gather to put together 200+ kits. A kit includes a bath towel, two bars of soap, one comb, one nail clipper, and one adult size tooth brush.
These kits will go to Lutheran World Relief (LWR) which receives kits from churches all over the country, stores them in facilities, and sends them to places where there has been a disaster of some kind (earthquake, flood, war, etc.). LWR has specific requirements related to the items in the kits. Therefore, the Church will purchase all of the items in bulk using the particular instructions from LWR staff.
On the Sundays leading up to SEPT 16 — assembly day — the church will have something called a noisy offering. Essentially, coins/change people have set aside throughout the week will get poured into a metal chute of some kind and drop into a big pot. Everyone is welcome to help make some noise!
For people who aren’t able to participate on one of the Sundays, our friends at the Freedom Village Store will be accepting change into a big pot there! Bring your change and know that you are helping people in need in other parts of the world.
